• In 2019 the APTA House of Delegates approved board certification in the area of wound management. The first wound management specialist certification examination will be administered in 2022.

    • July 1: Application Deadline
    • November 30: Initial Certification Exam Fee Deadline
    • Scheduling Permits will be issued by January 1, 2022

    Specialist Certification Examination Outline: Wound Management

    All questions on the exam relate to the competencies outlined in the book Wound Management Physical Therapy: Description of Specialty Practice (DSP).

    The following is an outline summarizing the key components of the Wound Management Physical Therapy Description of Specialty Practice. Examination percentages reflect the approximate weighting of specialty board examination for each content domain. Examination questions can reflect  knowledge areas or practice expectations, or both combined, to test the application of knowledge areas to clinical practice.
