• The Specialization Academy of Content Experts (SACE) was established to create a pool of certified specialists to write items for the specialist certification examinations. During the completion of the online application, SACE applicants will be required to complete the online course "Specialist Certification Examination Item Writing: An Overview," and submit a sample exam question. Elected applicants must commit to attending an item writing training workshop during APTA's 2020 Combined Sections Meeting (CSM), and commit to writing a minimum of 8-12 exam questions annually for the 2 year appointment to SACE. 

    ABPTS board-certified clinical specialists are needed for the following practice areas: Cardiovascular and Pulmonary, Clinical Electrophysiologic, Geriatric, Neurologic, Oncologic, Orthopaedic, Pediatrics, Sports, Women's Health, and Wound Management Physical Therapy.

    • ABPTS will review all applications and make official appointments during their September board meeting.
