• The Specialization Academy of Content Experts (SACE) was established to create a pool of certified specialists to write items for the specialist certification examinations. In addition to completing an online application, SACE applicants will be required to complete the online course "Specialist Certification Examination Item Writing: An Overview," commit to attending an item writing training workshop during APTA's Combined Sections Meeting (CSM), and commit to writing a minimum of 8-12 items/year for the two (2) year appointment to SACE. 

    Eligible applicants must be ABPTS board-certified clinical specialists in 1 or more of the following practice areas: Cardiovascular and Pulmonary, Clinical Electrophysiologic, Geriatric, Neurologic, Oncologic, Orthopaedic, Pediatric, Sports, and Women's Health Physical Therapy.
